Beyond Me
Our Methodology

The Methodology.

Bridging analog history with digital permanence through the Secure-Link protocol — four stages designed to protect, preserve, and perpetuate your most irreplaceable materials.

Protocol Secure-Link
Encryption AES-256
Verification MD5 Checksum

Redundancy Triple Backup

The standard of preservation.

1993 Yearbook Archival Scan

Edge-to-edge clarity.
Zero binding stress.

This high-fidelity capture demonstrates our overhead scanning and laser-flattening capabilities. Notice the edge-to-edge clarity and the preservation of the original hand-drawn typography — achieved without opening the binding past 90 degrees.

Every page treated as a primary source document. Every detail preserved exactly as originally produced.

  • Resolution: 350 DPI Archival Master
  • Format: Searchable PDF / PDF-A / High-Res JPEG / PNG / TIFF
  • OCR Accuracy: Near 100% Text Recognition
  • Binding Stress: Zero — non-destructive capture only
  • Color Profile: sRGB calibrated for archival accuracy

White gloves.
86 years of history.

Watch our archivist carefully open and explore three yearbooks from Anderson Union High School spanning 1938, 1939, and 1940 — years sitting on the edge of World War II. This is what precision digitization looks like in practice.

Inside: hundreds of student signatures, class photos, and an unexpected discovery tucked inside the 1938 book — a personal photograph and a postcard left behind for 86 years.

From your hands to the archive.

01

Stage One

Intake & Chain of Custody

We treat every asset as a primary source. Upon arrival, items are processed through our Reinforced Intake protocol — utilizing weather-resistant Vault Boxes and tamper-evident seals to ensure a secure, documented transition from your hands to our Memphis lab. Nothing moves without a paper trail.

Archival ID Assignment

Every physical item receives a unique identifier cross-referenced against your intake manifest. Nothing enters the lab unnamed.

Condition Audit

Pre-capture inspection to identify fragile bindings, media degradation, or environmental damage requiring special handling protocols.

Vault Box Packaging

Weather-resistant, tamper-evident packaging ensures your materials arrive and return in the same condition they left you.

Chain of Custody Log

A complete documented record of every person who handles your materials from intake through final delivery.

02

Stage Two

White-Glove Capture

Digital precision requires the right hands and the right optics. Every item is handled exclusively with white cotton archival gloves — eliminating oils, moisture, and particulate transfer. For printed media, we utilize overhead sensors employing laser-straightening technology to capture pages without stressing physical bindings. For magnetic media, professional-grade decks maintained to prevent tape-stretch or signal loss.

Overhead Scanning

Non-destructive, overhead capture for books, yearbooks, and fragile documents. Binding never opened past 90 degrees.

Cold-Light Technology

Eliminating heat exposure during capture to protect ink stability, paper integrity, and film emulsion from degradation.

Magnetic Media Transfer

VHS, Betamax, Super 8, and audio formats transferred on professional-grade equipment maintained to broadcast standards.

Color Calibration

Every scan color-profiled against archival standards to ensure accurate reproduction of original materials across all output formats.

03

Stage Three

Data Hardening & Ingest

Capturing the image is only half the battle. We implement MD5 checksum verification to ensure your data remains bit-for-bit identical for a century. Every file is processed through OCR text recognition — making names, dates, and content fully searchable. Files are then ingested through our AES-256 encryption protocol across geographically distinct nodes, ensuring no single point of failure threatens your archive.

MD5 Checksum Verification

Cryptographic verification that every file is bit-for-bit identical to the original capture — guaranteed data integrity for 100+ years.

OCR Text Indexing

Every name, caption, and article machine-read and indexed. Your 1938 yearbook becomes fully searchable within hours of capture.

Metadata Embedding

Dates, names, events, and provenance information embedded directly into digital files — the context travels with the content.

Triple Redundancy

Immediate triple-backup across geographically distinct nodes. No hardware failure, no disaster, no single event can claim your archive.

04

Stage Four

Legacy Succession

Final assets are delivered via your secure digital vault — a private, searchable archive accessible only to you and your designated heirs. Through our Legacy Succession Protocol, we establish Master Keys and Inactivity Pulse wellness checks that ensure your digital heritage transfers seamlessly across generations. Your archive doesn't just survive you — it outlasts everything.

Vault Access

Seamless login to your private Omeka S-powered archive — fully searchable, accessible from any device, anywhere in the world.

Master Key Protocol

Secure credential handoff to designated heirs ensuring your archive remains accessible across generations without disruption.

Inactivity Pulse

Periodic wellness checks that automatically trigger succession protocols — your archive never goes dark due to inactivity.

Physical Asset Return

Safe return of all original physical media in their Vault Boxes — your originals come home, your digital archive lives forever.

Your history deserves this.

Every day that passes is a day your materials are exposed to time, humidity, and entropy. The Secure-Link protocol exists to stop that — permanently.
